Can I be Charged with Drunk Driving for Driving a Motor Boat?

By | February 19, 2013

In Ohio, the answer is yes.  It is just as illegal to operate watercraft while intoxicated as it is to drive on the roads while intoxicated.  In fact, the laws regarding intoxicated watercraft operation mirror R. C.  4511.19.[1]  No word yet on whether sleeping in a boat on a trailer in your garage while drunk with the keys in the ignition is “operating” as contemplated by the statute.

If you need representation against drunk driving charges, you can call me at 614.580.4316.  I don’t charge for initial consultations to see if I can help you.  If you decide you want to hire me after we speak, then we can go from there on what it will cost.
